Treats for Good Sevier County Humane Society

As it did for so many people near and far, the wildfires that overtook much of Gatlinburg, TN on November 28, 2016 were scary and heartbreaking. We at Barley Bones are located just a few hours away from the mountains and have spent much time in the region, making the disaster hit extra close to home.

As we thought about the region, its effected homes, families and businesses, we wanted to do something to help.  The next thing our thoughts went to were the pets that were part of those families. So many people couldn't bring pets with them to shelters or had to escape the flames in such a rush that they had to make the heartbreaking choice to leave their animals and flee.

SCHS Temporary Shelter at the fair Grounds/Thankfully, the Sevier County Humane Society took on the need to take in the displaced, lost and injured animals, even after having to evacuate themselves. The organization created a temporary shelter on the county fair grounds and went right to work with their staff and numerous volunteers. Any animals that had needed medical attention were treated and the shelter stayed open 24/7 for weeks.

The Sevier County Humane Society have done so much for the community and surrounding area in a time of need that we at Barley Bones want to offer
Puppy and Smoky Bones a helping hand. Along with helping those animals in need, the shelter is also looking for a new building after the fires.  We have come up with Smoky Bones as a way to send donations and also treats for the loved shelter pups and the German Shepherd at Sevier County Humane Society.overwhelmed staff and volunteers who are providing care for the displaced animals.

You can order a bag of Smoky Bones in Bacon or Peanut Mutter for your own four legged friend and send a pound of treats to the Sevier County Humane Society, along with a portion of the proceeds going to the shelter. If you would rather send the treats to the shelter, go right ahead! Simply make a note that the order is a donation and we will make sure it makes it to the Smoky Mountains and the very deserving dogs at the Sevier Humane Society.

If you would like to help Treats for Good provide support for the Sevier County Humane Society you can do so here.

I live in Sevier Co. and know folks at the Shelter there—they are such wonderful people! They risked their own lives to get to the shelter and help evacuate all the animals. It was night and the power was out and fires were raging everywhere. They had only their cellphones for light ! But they rescued every animal in just the nick of time. Bravest, loving people on earth. Thank you for this opportunity for people to donate to them. They are in terrific need for a new shelter and cannot stay much longer at the fair grounds. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
